ABATE of Central Louisiana is sad to annouce the death of a our founding Past Vice-President and a "Legend" in the motorcycle community. Gary "CHEESEBURGER" Chandler passed away on Wednesday Dec. 26, 2007. "Cheese" as his friends called him was known practically all over the Unites States. His easygoing style and his gift for telling of his riding adventures around the country mostly in bars (or as he called them "historical markers") made him known just about anywhere motorcyclist gather.
Cheese we all will ride together again someday. If you have any share-able stories about Cheese, please take time to write it down and mail to Cheese's sister Janet Rogers 286 Oakgrove Church Road Bentley, La 71407.

ABATE member Ronald "Ronnie" Swain passed away on August 20, 2007. Ronnie had joined ABATE at the Annual Bike and Music Splash in Marksville in 2006. ABATE had become a passion of Ronnie's. He will truly be missed.

Herb Cross passed away on February 16, 2009. He retired from Louisiana State Police Troop E after 27 years of service and was employed as a Judicial Security Officer by the U.S. Marshall's Service. He was a member of the State Troopers Association and a member of ABATE.
Herb's friends were very dear to him. He showed this by his countless efforts of cooking for benefits, taking road trips on his Harley with friends, and sharing life stories with those who all knew and loved him. The boisterous sound of his voice and friendly smile will be greatly missed.
